Maintenance energy requirements
Why did we choose to go with Pharo genetics?
329 out of 331 of the Angus bulls slated for the Pharo fall bull sale rate in the top 5 percent of the Angus breed for maintenance energy requirements.
If you are after low maintenance, easy fleshing cows you start with low maintenance easy fleshing bulls.
Our industry has spent the last 50 years trying to produce larger weaning weights. We have developed larger cows that milk heavier and cost more to maintain. Our focus should be on a smaller easier fleshing cow. Run more cows on the same acreage and produce more pounds of beef per acre. It’s not about weaning weights. It’s about pounds of beef per acre and cost of production.
This is why we produce Pharo influenced bred heifers.
